Matteo Menardi, born in 1999, started going to the crags around Cortina at a very young age with his father, also a passionate and strong climber. This is where his continuing love for crags began. Very determined and physically talented, he achieved remarkable results at an early age; he was only 12 when he climbed his first 8a, “Supergrimp” on the fairy-tale crag Pian Schiavaneis, and at 13 came the first 8b+, “5th Avenue” in Landro. Subsequently, thanks to the support of his parents, he has followed a gradual but steady progression that has allowed him to become one of the strongest and most promising climbers. Matteo prefers climbing on sight, where he has reached 8b, although his most impressive result was without a doubt completing “Nove g,” the legendary route freed by Adam Ondra, which he himself classified as a difficult 9a.
